Tragic, Division of Elderly and Women Rice trampled

JAKARTA - Vihara Nimmala Boen San Bio distributed about 20 tons of rice to 4,100 people in order to welcome Cioko celebration, which falls right on today, Thursday (08/25/2011).

The event distribution of rice has become an annual agenda for the monastery which is located at Jalan KS Tubun 43, Tangerang. Distribution of rice started at 08.00 and ended at 09.00.

At around 7:30 pm, KS Tubun Road conditions had hampered due to the many people who gathered in front of the monastery. They waited dibukakannya monastery doors to get donations of rice, each get a ration of five liters.

From the observation Kompas.com, had been pushing and shoving action when the monastery opened the door at around 8:15. In fact, seen a number of women and the elderly had trampled masses. But overall, monitored safe because there is help from the police who help the course of distribution of rice.

"This is an activity that the umpteenth time, there is an increase of the number of people coming. If 3,500 people last year, now rose to 4,100 people. All of rice collected from the people of our monastery, but there also comes from donors," said Afandi, event coordinators social service division of rice.

Afandi said, the distribution of rice as a form of concern to residents around the monastery are classified as less capable in terms of economy.

Memeh (55), a mother villagers Karang Mulya, Jakarta said, he was the first time attend this free distribution of rice.

"I've been waiting here since half past seven in the morning. And my invites my friend's apartment. Not bad, five-liter can help my family life. I'm to the monastery, if he could often hold events like this," he said.
