Gempa Singkil : Death Toll Reaches Two People

JAKARTA - The disaster of earthquake magnitude 6.7 Richter scale that shook and Subulussalam Singkil District, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam resulted in two deaths. In addition, the National Disaster Management Agency also reported one person slightly injured.

Cok Abang alias Dedi (10) tewas warga Kota Subulussalam, NAD tewas usai gempa 6,7 SR, yang berpusat di Aceh Singkil, Selasa (6/9/2011) WIB dini hari.

Material losses caused by the earthquake that heavily damaged a house of worship, three houses were severely damaged, 15 homes minor damage, one unit was heavily damaged buildings and 160 shops on fire because of electrical short-circuit surge suppression.

"BPBD still continue to coordinate and perform data collection," said Head of Data Information and Public Relations of National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Sutopo Purwo Nugroho at Jakarta, Tuesday (06/09/2011).

Previously reported, the earthquake occurred today, Tuesday (06/09/2011) at 0:05 pm. Epicenter was on land at Fault Semangko which is earthquake-prone areas. Locations LU 2.81-97.85 BT, Depth 78 KM, 59 km NE Singkilbaru NAD, 75 miles southeast Kutacane NAD, 78 miles Southwest of North Sumatra and 89 Kabanjahe southeast Tapaktuan NAD is not a potential tsunami.

Residents panicked and out of the house, until now, BNPB still coordinating with BPBD Aceh and North Sumatra BPBD and other agencies to conduct data collection.
