Tripoli - Explosions and gunfire rocked Tripoli through the night. Anti rebel leader Muammar Gaddafi Libya had reached the outskirts of the capital to overthrow the tyrant.
While Gaddafi confidently say insurgent attacks have been beaten back. "The mice had been attacked and we destroy them," Gaddafi said in a voice message broadcast on state television as reported by Reuters on Sunday (21/08/2011).
Shootout in Tripoli is taking place since Saturday night. The shootout lasted several hours. But the machine gun sounds and explosions are still heard the crack of dawn there is a battle that marked in some places.
Vice chairman of the rebels of the National Transition Council (NTC) Abdel Hafiz Ghoga mention the deadline for Gaddafi has run out. "At zero already begun. Insurgents in Tripoli has risen," said Ghoga of Benghazi.
Former PM Libya, Abdel Salam Jalloud a day earlier defected to the rebels appeared on Al Jazeera television via internet video. He called on all the Libyan people against the tyrant.
"Tonight we won against fear," he said. NTC officials, said Mohammed al Allaqi Jalloud was in Rome, Italy.
The battle that eventually reached Tripoli, Benghazi and welcomed in many cities. The movement of insurgents into Tripoli has changed the map of power since they overran the shrine city last week. That led to Tripoli isolated.
Meanwhile on Sunday morning, Gaddafi's son Saif al Islam speech on television in an event called the meeting of youth. He expressed his belief that the insurgents will be defeated and applause greeted the people in the room.
"The revolt in Libya will not succeed. You will not see us give up and wave the white flag, it is not possible. This is our country and we will never leave," said Saif.
